To mark the 50th anniversary of ZAW-SR (Central Waste Management for the City and Region of Straubing), Luke Jerram’s impressive art installation “GAIA” was brought to Straubing and installed in St Jakob’s Basilica. The “world of wonder” was celebrated with a diverse programme combining science, art and spirituality. On Friday 20 March 2026, Prof. Laforsch delivered his lecture “Microplastics in the Environment” to a large audience of interested visitors, sparking lively discussion.
